Professional Background
Eric heads the internal audit and risk management practice in Moore Stephens Canberra.
Eric is a founding partner of the Canberra practice with over 20 years experience in public practice having completed his qualifications with KPMG.
In the course of his professional career, Eric has been involved in many facets of audit, assurance and risk management, including:
- internal and external audit;
- risk assessment and mitigation;
- documentation and evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of accounting systems and internal controls;
- financial viability assessments;
- development of fraud control plans;
- development of cost recovery policies and procedures; and
- advising on improvements to governance frameworks.
Eric has also been responsible for the preparation of statutory financial reports, development of management reports and advice regarding the selection and adoption of accounting policies and procedures compliant with Australian GAAPs.
Eric has extensive experience over a wide variety of industries including government, hotels and resorts, property development, healthcare, aged care and education sectors.
Eric is passionate about improving the quality of financial reporting and risk management in the not-for-profit sector, particularly the associations sector. His involvement in the sector spans 20 years and includes participation in working parties on government acquittal requirements, submissions to accounting regulators regarding accounting issues specific to the not-for-profit industry and the presentation of seminars on the adoption of GST and IFRS.
Eric enjoys spending time with his family, indoor cricket and reading.
