Professional Background

With over 20 years experience, John is the Principal of the Assurance division, based in the Townsville Office, and oversees all Assurance client work in North Queensland.

John has had extensive Audit experience, being directly involved in all engagements in North Queensland.

In his role as Principal of the Assurance division, John guarantees high client satisfaction, having built many strong and trusted client relationships. In accordance with the Assurance Division's Quality Control System, he ensures the audit process is fully automated, and that his teams are up to date with the latest legislation, developments and trends.

John is also responsible for the provision of accounting and taxation advice to a large number of enterprises.

The provision of advice ranges from general compliance work, which involves the preparation of financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts and partnerships, through to business planning, cash flow management, profit projections and general business advice.

John has significant public sector audit experience having been a delegated signatory of the Auditor General for a number of years and been involved in  numerous QAO contracted audits over the last 18 years.

He has industry expertise in the areas of Local Government Council's, Aboriginal Council's, construction, universities, not-for-profit public companies, nursing homes, private schools, internal audit, co-operative research institutes, primary production and self managed superannuation funds.

Some specific examples of recent experience includes:

• Australian Institute of Marine Science (Internal Audit) - 12 years
• Chairman Townsville City Council Audit Committee (ceased on amalgamation)
• External Audits of Reef & Rainforest Research Centre Limited, Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Blackheath Thornburgh College
• Numerous Local Government and Statutory Body external audits including; James Cook University, Townsville Port Authority, Far North Queensland Ports Corporation Limited and Charters Towers Regional Council.
