Professional Background

Steven joined Moore Stephens in 2002 as Director of Taxes bringing over 16 years taxation consulting expertise from his work within the tax divisions of major international and mid tier accounting firms.

Providing advice to large and small companies on a broad range of issues within income tax, capital gains tax, fringe benefits tax and GST, he believes success in taxation consultancy is not just a question of numbers. Steven is focused on providing his clients with solutions that factor financial costs and risk profile to achieve the 'best' answer rather than just the right answer.

His extensive experience, understanding and knowledge expands a diverse range of industries including property, construction, management, electronic and print media, manufacturing, mining and professional services.

Steven has worked extensively on group restructures, aimed at introducing new shareholders, divestment of non-core divisions, asset acquisitions, mergers, public floats and achieving more efficient business structures. He has also advised on international tax issues including structuring, cross border taxation and transfer pricing reviews.

Active within the profession, Steven has spoken at seminars presented by professional bodies and industry groups on topics including capital gains tax, FBT, trusts, structuring, GST and tax reform. He is currently on the NSW Education Committee of the Taxation Institute of Australia and is a former chairman of the Taxation Institute's Younger Members' Committee.

Steven is focused on developing the firm's taxation consulting services to build a team of specialists committed to ensuring our clients benefit from the combination of this specialist skill set and the depth of understanding we have about their business.

Outside of work, Steven is an avid four wheel driver, a rugby 'tragic' and enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family.
