Network growth and new appointments 2019

1 July saw the internal promotion of two new Directors – Lisa Canale (South Australia) and Kerry Hicks (Victoria) following on from the recent lateral appointment of Benjamin Yeo (Victoria) as Director in April. The new appointments take our national tally of Directors to 75.

After being named as the fastest growing mid-tier firm in Australia (Australian Financial Review, 2018 top 100 Accounting Firms in Australia) Moore Stephens Australia (MSA) has further strengthened its position with the announcement of a new legal services division. A move that will provide clients with a multi-disciplinary approach rarely found outside of the ‘Big Four’.

Launched in early July, the network’s new legal services division will be based in the Victorian office and headed by Alexander Nielsen, an accomplished lawyer with over 10 years’ experience in corporate, tax, real estate and asset management matters.

Challenging the mid-tier model, Moore Stephens aims to re-define the role of a traditional advisor while broadening the depth of services available to clients. Mr Nielsen says embedding legal expertise into Moore Stephens’ day-to-day services will facilitate a new perspective. “Our accounting and business advisors have many high-quality relationships, and as a lawyer, it’s a rare privilege to become part of a client’s core team. This is a chance for clients to receive multi-disciplinary advice and change the way clients engage with their team of advisors. It’s a single team, with our client’s best interest front of mind.”

The move comes after a solid year for the network in which expertise across a number of niche specialisations was further cemented in particular; Transfer pricing, Indigenous business services, Local Government services, Corporate bookkeeping, Virtual CFO services, Risk advisory and SOX consulting. Corporate Finance was also an integral part of the network’s growth with a number of M&A, valuations and equity capital transactions under advice.

David Tomasi, Chairman of MSA says investment in people and consolidation of recent growth has been a key focus for the network not only here in Australia but throughout the network globally.  Mr Tomasi commented “In today’s ever changing world, we need to be able to keep pace with the services being demanded by our clients.  The recent addition of these services plus those we have delivered over the past 12 to 18 months demonstrates Moore Stephens’ commitment to stay relevant and continue to be known for the provision of quality solutions.”
